The Christmas market
From the middle of November to Christmas Eve the yard changes trades: the glasshouse fills with lights, the benches carry wreaths instead of perennials, and the trees stand netted by the gate. Exact dates are chalked up each year, here and on the board at the road.
- Real trees Picked in the yard and netted at the bench. Sizes and prices go on the board when they land.
- Wreaths and garlands On the benches through the season, while they last.
- The Potting Shed, mulled The cafe goes seasonal: mulled things, mince pies, and somewhere warm to hold the shortest days.
- Gift vouchers Any amount, from the till, honoured for whatever spring turns out to be. The present that becomes a garden.
Outside the season this page keeps its head down: the yard is about plants eleven months of the year, and the market earns its month.
